Three weekend-friendly business ideas

If you want to give your income a boost, running your own business is a good way to do it. It is possible to earn quite a bit of money doing so during the spare hours you have at the weekends.

Here are some great business ideas that are easy and inexpensive to set up. Since they take up little time, they are ideal for fitting around your family.

1. Get out and about locally

Perhaps the easiest weekend business is selling at local markets, boot sales, and events like craft fairs or fetes. What you sell is up to you.

Some people buy goods wholesale online and sell them on, while others make craft products and sell them. Simple food products like ice-lollies made from fresh fruit, low-fat cakes, basic pastries, healthy snacks, and drinks all sell really well.

2. Work for others

If you are a keen gardener, or have a strong back, working for others at the weekend is a great option. There are always people looking for someone to take care of their garden, help them with DIY or assist with such task as packing. People also look for cooks, weekend carers, and window cleaners. You can set up as a sole trader and offer these services at the weekend.

3. Sell your crafts online

Making products like jewellery, candles, sweets and bird boxes can all be done at the weekend and sold via the Internet. With this business, you will occasionally have to dispatch orders during the week, but you can certainly do the bulk of the work on Saturdays and Sundays.

At the weekend, most people have a few hours to spare, so fitting in a mornings work is viable and a great way to make extra cash. Be sure to speak to HM Revenue & Customs, however, to make sure that you’re complying with tax regulations.
